solitary

 here's a thing i did. i did it mostly to practice anatomy, but also i wanted to kind of show emotion. i've been kind of sad lately, and it's okay to be sad sometimes, but i like to let it out through my art. i called it "solitary" because she's in a void all alone. solitary is not always a bad thing, though.

just a little thing i noticed after i finished painting... hER BACK IS SO CURVED SHE LOOKS LIKE THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME but it's fine i don't care that much.

week 2 assignment

ok. here's myyyy... piece. assignment? i'm not sure what to call it??? anyway, i tried to make something halfway decent and i think it turned out okay. i wanted to make it a little realistic and put a reflection of the table cloth on the ball but it ended up looking a little bit weird? and then i tried to figure out how to put a rim lighting or a back lighting for literally hours. it looked so bland without it, oh my gosh i was getting so frustrated because i needed something to make it stand out from the background and i didn't know how to do it in this program and i finally just put a stroke line with a radial gradient on it. it looks okay...

i'm not super happy with how it turned out but i got tired of just messing around with everything. and i'm not really sure if this meets the assignment's criteria, but technically i made at least 3 shapes, i guess??

peacock

(oops i didn't do the butt feathers because i didn't want to)

this was just for practice using inkscape. mrs girot gave me a reference of a peacock, so i drew it. i don't think i used it right, honestly? i only used the calligraphy tool or whatever it's called, which is obviously not its intended purpose. i used my mouse for this, by the way (and it's far from accurate because it was kind of hard to do realism with a mouse). and with animals i feel like it's okay if it doesn't look exactly like the reference, as long as it looks like some animal it's fine.

introduction

hello!

i'm samantha (loiselle). selsab is my initials and my mom's initials, which is what i sign my art with. this blog is for mrs. girot's digital art class, but i guess i could also use it as a portfolio (um, like she said).

i've been drawing for awhile, probably since i was, like, seven, or something. i'm fourteen years old now. i only recently got into doing digital art though, and i'm still pretty bad at it. i use paint tool sai most of the time, but we have to use inkscape for this class.

things i like: music (twenty one pilots, panic! at the disco, fall out boy, melanie martinez, etc) and obviously art, and that's about it, really. whoops. i can play the ukulele, piano, violin, and guitar (most of them not very well. i'm okay at everything, but not fantastic with anything). i want to get a drum set because i feel like that would be something i would play the most, maybe even make a career out of playing them. anyway, um, here's my art. i should probably start dating them with the month and day. that would be smart, right?? i'm too lazy.
